The Mysore Fig Tree (Ficus mysorensis) is one of the most beloved and iconic features of the Edison-Ford Winter Estates. This massive tree, with its aerial roots and sprawling canopy, was planted in 1928 as a gift to Thomas Edison from Harvey Firestone, one of his close friends and business partners. Firestone, along with Edison and Henry Ford, was part of the famed "Vagabonds" group—industrial pioneers who traveled together and shared a passion for innovation and nature. The tree was planted as part of Edison’s research on alternative sources for rubber production, a project he pursued in response to America's reliance on foreign rubber supplies.

Over the years, the Mysore Fig has flourished into a breathtaking natural wonder, its gnarled roots and broad branches forming a striking symbol of strength and endurance—much like the love being celebrated beneath its sheltering canopy. As the newlyweds share their first moments as husband and wife, the history and beauty of this century-old tree stand as a silent witness to yet another chapter in the story of love and legacy at the Edison & Ford Winter Estates.
